How My Robot Saved Me 9 Days Last Year

Yes, you read that right, I have a robot.

See, my girlfriend really cares how clean our house is. If a pillow isn’t in the right place, I’ll hear about it.

So when I kept on vacuuming, day after day, and still missed spots (and hearing about it) — I knew something had to change.

My robot sleeps in it’s charging station when it’s not working for us.

The fact that our dog is a husky mix and sheds like there’s no tomorrow only exacerbated the problem.

So I Bought A Robot

I used to spend probably 2 hours vacuuming the entire house and I’d be doing this a couple of times a week.

Then I bought a Roomba and I haven’t looked back. I am grateful for this robot on a daily basis. We need to stop spending our lives performing tasks that can easily be outsourced or automated.

I used to spend 204 hours a year vacuuming my house.

Math breakdown: (52 weeks x 2x per week at 2 hours per vacuum session = 204 hours or 8.5 days saved per year).

It’s sad to realize that I used to spend so much time on something so “unimportant”, but I am happy that I caught onto this and now have a solution.

If I run my Roomba 2x a week, a quick calculation will show that it’s saved me a staggering 34 days of my life since I purchased it! As I’ve had it for 4 years now.

The maintenance: It takes ~2 minutes every month emptying the Roomba’s tray into the trash. Sometimes a stray dog hair will get caught in the wheels and I’ll have to pull it out.

This is a small price to pay for my girlfriends happiness and a clean house.

We live in a time where there are opportunities to save time all over the place. This is just one example of how you can benefit from automation.

The Benefits

They can run at the same time daily and even have a convenient iPhone App to control their schedule.

Your robot works every day of the week and even when you’re sleeping.

Make sure to get a Roomba and not a cheap knock-off (there are a lot of copy cats in the marketplace now that I’ve heard horror stories about). Spend 30 minutes purchasing it and setting it up.

And let’s face it, vacuuming is probably the most fun chore in the house and it’s still not something most people “look forward” to.

I’ve had a Roomba for the past 4 years and it’s easily been my best home purchase, as far as pure time savings are concerned.

As home automation continues to improve, I am excited for what other tasks and chores we’ll be able to automate in the future.

iRobot even has a lawn mower robot! As soon as I get a yard, I’m going to seriously consider this purchase.

Saving over a week per year is a huge time saver and is a step in the right direction of you getting more time to do what you want with YOUR life.

Is a week of your life worth more than a couple hundred bucks?

I’ll let you decide.
